Stick the booster landing again and again — soft, upright, dead-center — to build your chain and earn upgrades. One crash ends the run.

How to play SpaceX Lander

SpaceX Lander is an endless rocket-landing score-chase. You fly a tall Falcon-9-style booster back from re-entry and set it down on an ocean drone ship — then do it again, and again, each touchdown harder than the last, all on a single fuel tank. Hold thrust to bleed off speed, steer to line up over the deck, and stick it soft, upright and dead-center. One crash ends the run, so every landing is a gamble: play it safe, or push for the bullseye to keep your chain climbing.

Landing grades & the chain

Each touchdown is graded on your weakest discipline — vertical speed, sideways speed, tilt and distance from the bullseye:

Consecutive clean landings build a chain multiplier (up to x8) that's applied to every landing — the deeper you go, the more terrifying it is to lose. Land well and you bank credits, kept even when you crash.

Upgrades

Credits buy permanent upgrades in the Hangar — Throttle Authority (stronger engine), Vernier Trim (crisper steering), Deep Tanks (more fuel), Grid-Fin Damping (calmer entries) and Recovery Bonus (richer payouts). Every upgrade is felt in flight, and a bad run still funds the next one, so you're always getting measurably better.

About SpaceX Lander

SpaceX Lander is a tribute to the engineering that made vertical-landing reusable boosters real. SpaceX's Falcon 9 first stage flew back from orbit and landed itself on a drone ship for the first time in April 2016 (Of Course I Still Love You, in the Atlantic) — an outcome decades of aerospace engineers had assumed was prohibitively expensive. This game turns that flight envelope into an arcade score-chase.

Frequently asked

How do I play SpaceX Lander? Hold thrust to slow your descent and steer to line up over the drone ship. Touch down soft, upright and dead-center for a PERFECT and keep your landing chain alive. A run is endless back-to-back landings on one fuel tank; one crash ends it.

How does scoring work? Every landing is graded PERFECT, GREAT, GOOD or SKETCHY on your touchdown speed, tilt and bullseye distance. Cleaner landings build a chain multiplier and earn more credits, and each landing tops up your fuel so flying well keeps the run going.

What are the upgrades? Credits you earn are spent in the Hangar on permanent upgrades that carry into every future run — so a bad run still makes the next one easier.

Is SpaceX Lander free? Yes — no signup, no downloads, no installs.

Does my progress save? Yes — your best run, credits and upgrades are stored locally in your browser.
